Dr. Peter Hackett lectured during class this evening. He is a physician in the emergency room at medical clinic and will most likely be the peron we speak to when responding to calls on ambulance and need direction. I think he is the person we meet with regarding quality improvement as well. The lecture was about problems related to exposure to cold weather. However, it is his research on AMS, HAPE and HACE that he is known for. He had a research and medical site at 14,000 feet on Denali and Everest for numerous years. There are a number of good books that he has written about his experience there. I think right now he's doing research on how some natural herbs might help prevent AMS. It will interesting to see how that turns out.
